Casablanca is 240 km from Marrakech — a private full-day trip that takes 12–13 hours door-to-door, covering the Hassan II Mosque, the Habous Quarter, the Art Deco district around Mohammed V Square, and the Atlantic Corniche, with pickup from your hotel or riad at 07:00. Available year-round.
Casablanca doesn’t get the tourist attention Marrakech does, and that’s exactly what makes it worth a long day on the road. It’s Morocco’s largest city, its economic capital, and architecturally unlike anywhere else in the country — a place shaped as much by French colonial planners in the 1920s and 30s as by Moroccan tradition.
This is a long day. Casablanca is 240 km from Marrakech, so you’re looking at roughly 2.5–3 hours each way on the road before any sightseeing begins. It suits travelers who specifically want to see the Hassan II Mosque and Casablanca’s colonial architecture, rather than those looking for a relaxed half-day excursion. If that’s you, the distance is worth it.
The centrepiece is the Hassan II Mosque — one of the largest mosques in the world, built directly over the Atlantic, and the only mosque in Morocco that non-Muslims can enter (interior visits are guided and ticketed on-site, subject to prayer time closures — we recommend verifying current visiting hours before travel). From there, the trip moves through the Habous Quarter, a French-built “new medina” designed in the 1930s to look centuries older than it is, and Mohammed V Square, ringed by some of the finest Art Deco buildings in Africa.
Your driver handles the route, the timing, and getting you to each site — this is a private door-to-door vehicle, not a shared coach tour, and there’s no formal tour guide included. If you want the full guided interior experience at the mosque, on-site guides are available there for the ticketed visit.
The Atlantic Corniche closes out the day — a long seafront boulevard with some of the best seafood in the country, and a genuinely different pace to anything you’ll have seen in Marrakech.
Private Casablanca day trips start from 250€ per group in a Comfort Van — confirmed price provided at booking based on group size and vehicle choice.

Your driver collects your group from your hotel or riad. The early start is deliberate — with 240 km each way, leaving at 07:00 gives you the maximum possible time in Casablanca before the return drive.
Direct motorway route from Marrakech to Casablanca, approximately 2.5–3 hours depending on traffic near the city. A short comfort stop is available en route on request.
Arrival at the Hassan II Mosque, built partly over the Atlantic and one of the largest mosques in the world. The exterior and grounds can be visited freely. The guided interior visit is ticketed on-site and subject to prayer time closures — we recommend verifying current visiting hours before travel, as they can change with the prayer schedule.
The Habous Quarter (New Medina) was built by French colonial planners in the 1930s, deliberately designed to resemble a centuries-old medina. Traditional riad-style architecture, spice shops, and one of Casablanca's better-known patisseries for Moroccan pastries.
A short walk through Casablanca's administrative centre, ringed by Art Deco and Mauresque-style buildings from the French Protectorate era — one of the largest concentrations of Art Deco architecture in Africa.
Free time for lunch along the Corniche, Casablanca's seafront boulevard. Seafood restaurants along this stretch are well regarded locally. Lunch is not included — budget 20–40€ per person.
Time to walk the Corniche itself before the return drive — a genuinely different atmosphere to the Marrakech medina, with open ocean views and a relaxed, modern promenade feel.
Direct return drive to Marrakech, approximately 2.5–3 hours. Drop-off at your hotel or riad, typically around 19:00–19:30 depending on traffic and how the day's stops ran.
Casablanca is approximately 240 km from Marrakech, reached by motorway in around 2.5–3 hours each way. It's the longest day trip distance offered by Atlas Wings Group, which is why the trip departs early at 07:00.
It depends on what you're looking for. If seeing the Hassan II Mosque and Casablanca's colonial architecture is a priority, the trip is genuinely worthwhile. If you'd rather have a shorter, more relaxed day, a closer excursion such as Essaouira or Ourika Valley may suit you better — this trip involves 5–6 hours of driving within a 12–13 hour day.
Yes. The Hassan II Mosque is the only mosque in Morocco open to non-Muslim visitors. The interior is accessible on a guided, ticketed visit organised on-site, and visiting hours are subject to prayer times — we recommend verifying the current schedule before you travel, since it can change.
The guided interior visit costs approximately 13€ per adult and 8€ per child, payable on-site. This is not included in the trip price. Exterior and grounds access does not require a ticket.
The Habous Quarter, also called the New Medina, was built by French colonial authorities in the 1930s. Despite looking centuries old, it's a deliberately designed neighbourhood combining traditional Moroccan architecture with colonial urban planning — now known for its spice shops, craft stores, and Moroccan patisseries.
Beyond the Hassan II Mosque, Casablanca's Mohammed V Square and surrounding streets hold one of Africa's largest concentrations of Art Deco architecture from the French Protectorate era. The Habous Quarter and the Atlantic Corniche seafront round out the day's stops.
It can work for families, but the driving time is the main consideration — around 5–6 hours in the vehicle across the day. It tends to suit children from around age 8 upward better than younger children. Let us know ages at booking so we can advise.
The standard trip includes a private driver only, who manages the day's route and logistics. An official licensed guide who accompanies your group for the full journey is available as an add-on for 100€ per group — useful if you want running historical and cultural commentary at each stop, not just at the Hassan II Mosque. Request this at booking so we can confirm guide availability for your date.
Modest dress is required for the mosque grounds and especially for the guided interior visit — shoulders and knees covered for all visitors, and a headscarf is recommended for women entering the prayer hall. Comfortable shoes are useful given the scale of the site.
Yes. Casablanca's coastal location keeps it noticeably cooler than Marrakech in summer, with Atlantic breezes moderating the heat — often 5–8°C cooler than inland Marrakech on the same day. It's a comfortable time to walk the Corniche and visit the mosque grounds. Roads are typically clear, though we recommend an early 07:00 departure regardless of season to maximise your time in the city.
The Hassan II Mosque already includes an on-site guide for the ticketed interior visit, so many travelers find the driver alone sufficient for the rest of the day. The add-on guide is worth it if you want deeper context at the Habous Quarter and the Art Deco district specifically — sites where the history isn't obvious just by walking through them. Confirm your preference at booking.
