The Authentic Marrakech Food Tour is a 3-hour evening walking tour through the medina — 10+ tastings across your choice of two routes, finishing with a full dinner included in the price. Meet your guide at the medina entrance at 6:00 PM.
Available year-round, minimum 2 persons.
Most visitors eat at restaurants chosen for them by a hotel concierge or a guidebook. This tour does the opposite. You walk the medina after dark with a certified local guide, stopping at the same stalls, vendors, and neighbourhood corners that Marrakech residents have used for generations — not the food stalls positioned for passing tourist traffic.
The tour runs as two distinct routes, and you choose which one suits your group.
Route A, “The Medina Classic,” is built for first-time visitors who want to understand Marrakech food culture through its foundational dishes — harira soup, gazelle ankle pastries, mint tea and msemmen, finishing with a tajine dinner at a quiet local restaurant.
Route B, “The Local’s Table,” goes further into the evening neighbourhood scene — sfenj doughnuts straight from the oil, cactus fruit peeled roadside, and a Chwa open-air barbecue dinner with Marrakech’s famous slow- cooked tanjia. Neither route is more “correct” than the other — they simply suit different appetites for adventure.
Your guide does more than lead you from stop to stop. At each tasting, they explain what you’re eating, why it matters, and where it sits in the Marrakech food calendar — this is genuinely informative, not just a procession of snacks. Every vendor on both routes has been personally vetted for food quality and hygiene, so you can eat freely without hesitation.
This is a private tour — your group only, capped at 7 people, with a minimum of 2 persons per booking. The pace is relaxed, not rushed: there’s time to ask questions, watch a vendor at work, and actually taste each dish properly before moving to the next stop.
Dinner is included on both routes, and it’s the genuine local version, not a tourist set menu. No bill at the end, no choosing from a laminated menu — you eat, you enjoy, and your guide walks you back out of the medina as the evening winds down.
The Authentic Marrakech Food Tour & Dinner starts from 49€ per person (minimum 2 persons) — confirmed price provided at booking based on group size and chosen route.

Your certified local guide meets your group at the agreed medina entrance meeting point. Evening light at this hour is exceptional — amber walls, long shadows, and the city's evening rhythm beginning around you. Your guide briefs you on the route and a few ground rules before the first tasting. If you've booked the optional hotel pickup add-on, your driver collects you beforehand and brings you to this meeting point.
Your guide leads the group through 7–8 individual tasting stops across neighbourhood streets, market corners, and alleyways that make up their personal food map of Marrakech. The pace is relaxed — time to eat, ask questions, watch vendors at work, and take in the surroundings. Your guide explains the history, ingredients, and cultural role of each dish as you go.
On Route A, your group is seated at a cozy, vetted local restaurant for a fresh Moroccan salad spread, a slow-cooked tajine, bread, and Raïb yogurt for dessert. On Route B, dinner is an open-air Chwa barbecue — grilled meats fresh from the fire, including Marrakech's signature slow-cooked tanjia. Both dinners are fully included, with no additional charge or menu decisions required.
Your guide walks you back out of the medina as the city settles into its late evening rhythm. If you booked pickup, your driver returns you to your hotel or riad.

Route A, "The Medina Classic," covers foundational Moroccan dishes like harira soup, gazelle ankle pastries, and mint tea with msemmen — ideal for first-time visitors. Route B, "The Local's Table," goes deeper into the neighbourhood evening food scene, including sfenj doughnuts, cactus fruit, and more adventurous stops, finishing with an open-air Chwa barbecue dinner. Both include 10+ tastings and a full included dinner — the choice comes down to how adventurous you want your evening to be.
No — the tour meets at a fixed medina entrance point at 6:00 PM. Hotel pickup and drop-off is available as an optional add-on; confirm your accommodation address at booking and we'll quote the pickup price based on your location.
Both routes include several vegetarian-friendly tastings (pastries, soup, mint tea, fruit, olives), though some stops on both routes feature meat. Please tell us about dietary restrictions or allergies at booking so your guide can adjust the route where possible.
Yes. Every vendor on both routes has been personally vetted by your guide for food quality and hygiene, and these are the same stalls Marrakech residents eat from regularly. As with any travel, we recommend standard caution if you have a sensitive stomach, and please raise any concerns with your guide on the night.
The tour is a relaxed walking route through the medina covering roughly 7–8 stops over 2 hours, followed by a seated dinner. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. The pace is unhurried, with time to rest and eat properly at each stop.
Yes, with consideration. Younger children may not enjoy every tasting (some stops on Route B are more adventurous, such as cactus fruit or local barbecue cuts), but Route A's foundational dishes are generally well-suited to families. Let us know ages at booking so your guide can tailor recommendations.
The tour requires a minimum of 2 persons per booking. Solo travelers are welcome to join — contact us via WhatsApp and we will help match you with another small group booking on the same date where possible, or confirm pricing for a private solo tour.
Yes. The 6:00 PM start is timed to avoid the hottest part of the day, and by the time the tour begins temperatures are noticeably more comfortable. Summer evenings in the medina are lively, and seasonal fruits like cactus fruit (Route B) are at their best. Bring a light layer for after dark, as temperatures can drop once the sun is fully down. The tour runs comfortably year-round.
