Rabat and Casablanca can both be visited from Marrakech in a single private day trip — a 13-hour, 660 km round trip covering Rabat’s Chellah Necropolis, Kasbah of the Oudayas and Hassan Tower, then Casablanca’s Hassan II Mosque, with door-to-door pickup from your hotel or riad at 07:00. Available
year-round.
This is the longest single-day trip Atlas Wings Group offers, and it’s built for one specific type of traveler: someone with limited time in Morocco who still wants to see the country’s political capital and its economic capital on the same visit. If that’s you, this trip covers an enormous amount of ground efficiently. If you have an extra day to spare, splitting Rabat and Casablanca into two separate trips is more comfortable — worth thinking about before you book.
Rabat is Morocco’s understated capital, and most travelers are surprised by it. The Chellah Necropolis is a walled complex of Roman ruins layered with Merinid-era tombs and mosque remains, now shared with a resident colony of storks nesting on the highest walls. The Kasbah of the Oudayas is a whitewashed Almohad-era fortress perched directly above the Atlantic, its narrow blue-and-white lanes unlike anything in Marrakech’s medina. The Hassan Tower stands nearby — an unfinished 12th-century minaret intended to be the largest in the Islamic world, abandoned after the death of the sultan who commissioned it, and one of the more quietly striking monuments in the country.
From Rabat, the route continues to Casablanca for the Hassan II Mosque — Morocco’s largest mosque and the only one in the country open to non-Muslim visitors, built directly over the Atlantic. Interior visits are guided and ticketed on-site, and subject to prayer time closures — we recommend verifying current visiting hours before you travel, as these can shift with the prayer schedule.
This is a private door-to-door vehicle, not a shared coach — your group, your driver, your pace. A driver is included as standard; an official licensed guide who accompanies your group for the full journey is available as an add-on, useful for running historical commentary across both cities rather than relying solely on the on-site guides at each monument.
Given the distances involved, this trip suits travelers comfortable with a long day in the vehicle in exchange for covering two major cities at once.
Private Rabat & Casablanca day trips start from 349€ per group in a Comfort Van — confirmed price provided at booking based on group size and vehicle choice.

Your driver collects your group from your hotel or riad. Given the distance involved, this early departure is essential — it's the only way to see both cities properly and still be back in Marrakech at a reasonable hour.
Direct motorway route from Marrakech to Rabat, approximately 3.5 hours depending on traffic. A short comfort stop is available en route on request.
A walled complex on the edge of Rabat containing Roman ruins layered with later Merinid-era tombs and a mosque. The site is known locally for the wild storks that nest on its highest walls — a distinctive sight found almost nowhere else in Morocco's imperial cities. Entry fee approx. 13€ per adult, payable on-site.
A fortified Almohad-era kasbah overlooking the mouth of the Bou Regreg river and the Atlantic. The whitewashed and blue-painted lanes inside are quieter and more residential in feel than Marrakech's medina — many travelers consider it one of the most photogenic spots in Morocco.
The unfinished minaret of a 12th-century mosque that was never completed after the death of Sultan Yacoub al-Mansour. The adjacent Mausoleum of Mohammed V, Morocco's royal mausoleum, sits on the same site. Entry to both is free.
Departure from Rabat toward Casablanca, approximately 1 to 1.5 hours by motorway. A stop for lunch is possible in Rabat before departure or on arrival in Casablanca — not included in the trip price.
Arrival at the Hassan II Mosque, built partly over the Atlantic and one of the largest mosques in the world. The exterior and grounds can be visited freely. The guided interior visit is ticketed on-site and subject to prayer time closures — we recommend verifying current visiting hours before travel.
A short stop along Casablanca's seafront boulevard if time allows, depending on how the day's schedule has run and traffic conditions.
Direct return drive from Casablanca to Marrakech, approximately 3 hours. Drop-off at your hotel or riad, typically around 20:00 depending on traffic.
The combined Rabat and Casablanca day trip covers approximately 660 km round trip from Marrakech — around 3.5 hours to Rabat, 1 to 1.5 hours between Rabat and Casablanca, and approximately 3 hours back to Marrakech from Casablanca. It's the longest single-day itinerary Atlas Wings Group offers.
Yes, but it's a genuinely long day — around 13 hours door-to-door with 7.5 to 8 hours of that spent driving. You'll see the highlights of both cities rather than exploring either in depth. If you have two days available, splitting this into separate Rabat and Casablanca trips gives you more time at each site and a less demanding schedule.
The Chellah is a walled historical site on the edge of Rabat containing Roman ruins from the ancient city of Sala Colonia, later built over with Merinid-era tombs and a mosque complex. It's also known for the colony of wild storks that nest on its walls. Entry costs approximately 13€ per adult, payable on-site.
The Kasbah of the Oudayas is a fortified Almohad-era citadel in Rabat, overlooking the Atlantic at the mouth of the Bou Regreg river. Its whitewashed and blue-painted lanes are residential and quiet, offering a different atmosphere to Marrakech's medina. Entry to the kasbah grounds is free.
Yes. The Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca is the only mosque in Morocco open to non-Muslim visitors. The interior is accessible on a guided, ticketed visit organised on-site, and visiting hours are subject to prayer times — we recommend verifying the current schedule before you travel, as it can change.
The Chellah Necropolis costs approximately 13€ per adult. The Hassan Tower and Mausoleum of Mohammed V are free. The Hassan II Mosque guided interior visit costs approximately 13€ per adult. Budget approximately 26€ per adult if you plan to visit all paid sites — these fees are not included in the trip price and are payable on-site.
The standard trip includes a private driver only, who manages the day's route and logistics. An official licensed guide who accompanies your group for the full journey is available as an add-on for 100€ per group — useful for running historical and cultural commentary across both cities. Request this at booking to confirm guide availability for your date.
It's possible, but the total driving time — around 7.5 to 8 hours across the day — is significant for younger children. It tends to suit families with children from around age 10 upward better than younger kids. Let us know ages at booking so we can advise on whether this trip or a shorter alternative suits your family better.
Lunch is not included and can be taken either in Rabat before the drive to Casablanca, or on arrival in Casablanca, potentially along the Corniche seafront. Your driver can recommend options based on the day's timing.
This combined trip is a time-efficient option for travelers with a single free day who want to see both cities. It works well year-round, though summer's longer daylight hours (departure 07:00, return around 20:00) make the schedule slightly more comfortable than in winter, when the return leg finishes closer to sunset. If you can spare two separate days, visiting Rabat and Casablanca individually allows more time at each site without the long combined drive.
